Allstate is the second largest personal insurance company in the United States and is the largest publicly traded health personal insurer. It was founded in 1931 as a brand of automobile tires sold through Sears, Roebuck and Company. Later that same year, the brand name was extended by the company's decision to offer auto insurance to customers by direct mail. In 1993, Allstate split from Sears. Allstate's total revenue in 2009 was about $32 billion. Allstate is known for its taglines, "You're in good hands with Allstate" and "That's Allstate's stand."
The majority of applicants that interview for a position with Allstate report a positive interview experience. Potential employees can expect a fairly straightforward interview process consisting of a face-to-face and/or group panel interview, in which a skills test and a personality test are given. A standard interview question might include, "How do you allocate resources?" Potential employees can apply online or in person, and phone interviews are sometimes conducted prior to the face-to-face interview. Some applicants who are offered positions can expect to submit to a background check.
