Ann Taylor was founded in 1954 by Richard Liebeskind; the first Ann Taylor store opened in 1956 in New Haven, Connecticut. Liebeskind?s father owned a clothing store, and the best-selling dress at that store was named "Ann Taylor". Liebeskind was gifted the dress and the name when he began his own venture with Ann Taylor. Today, Ann Taylor is a group of apparel stores with four divisions: Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Factory, LOFT and LOFT Outlet. The chain offers suits, dresses, separates, shoes and accessories. Today, the entire Ann Taylor chain has almost 1000 stores nationwide.
The majority of applicants that interview for a position at Ann Taylor report a positive interview experience. Potential employees can expect a fairly straightforward interview process consisting of a one-on-one interview with a store manager, in which standard interview questions are posed. An example might include, "What sets you apart from other candidates?" Potential employees can apply online or in person, and phone interviews are sometimes conducted for those management positions. Management positions can expect to take a personality test and submit to a drug and background check.
