About Buc-ee's

Number of Employees: 5K+

Headquarters: 327 Hwy 2004 Rd Lake Jackson, TX 77566

Buc-ee's has headquarters in Lake Jackson, Texas, and is known for its chain of convenience stores and travel centers at major highway junctions in the Central and Gulf Coast regions of Texas. Owned by Arch "Beaver" Aplin III and Don Wasek, the first Lake Jackson store opened in 1982. The Buc-ee's brand marketing is fun and family-and-neighbor targeted, with billboards adorned with slogans such as: "Restrooms So Clean, We Leave Mints on the Urinals." The focus is on quality products and fair prices in the many travel centers. Some are as large as 60,000 square feet with massive restrooms that offer over 40 urinals and toilets. Up to 64 fuel pumps and a full-service deli are featured at the larger locations.

What to Expect When Interviewing

Most employees apply online initially, but Buc-ee's is using a video interview process in some of their stores as of 2014. Candidates record their answers to very general questions about their experience, why they are interested in the job, and what their long-term goals are. Buc-ee's lists the job pay rates and geographical areas in which they need new hires on the top of their website's home page. Many employees appear to appreciate the generous and fair hourly pay, but do note that in exchange, the expectations are high for professionalism, reliability, and cleanliness while on the clock. The hours can be long and breaks few and far between.
