Brake Check came into being in 1968 when John Peveto Jr. came to San Antonio and took over the ownership of a company called Brake-O. Brake-O specialized in repairing and replacing car brakes. Within a few years, the business was thriving, having gone from one store to an entire chain. Numerous things can be attributed to the chain_s success, including the advent of free brake inspections, clean waiting areas, free coffee and, most recently, free Wi-Fi. Brake Check's slogan states, "We do it right and today", and this applies not only to brakes, but also oil changes, alignments, diagnostics and parts.
An equal number of applicants that interview for a position with Brake Check report positive and negative interview experiences. Potential employees can expect a fairly straightforward interview process consisting of a face-to-face and/or group panel interview, in which a skills test and a personality test may be given. A standard interview question might include, "Do you consider yourself handy at car repair?" Potential employees can apply online or in person, and phone interviews are sometimes conducted prior to the face-to-face interview. Some applicants who are offered positions can expect to submit to a background check.
