Within a year, the company had acquired Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Oakland, Elmore and Pontiac, among others. Today, GM brands include Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Vauxhall, Holden and Opel. General Motors also owns OnStar, a company that provides vehicle safety, information services and security to drivers.
