King Soopers is one of Kroger's many retail entities. This supermarket has its headquarters in Denver, Colo. and enjoys a popular presence in the state. Most of its stores are on the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains, spanning from Cheyenne, WY, down to Pueblo, Colo. King Soopers was founded in Arvada, Colo., in 1947 by Lloyd J. King. The Dillon Companies bought King Soopers in 1957, and when Kroger purchased Dillons in 1983, King Soopers became another member of the Kroger family of stores. Founded in 1883 by Barney Kroger, the Kroger Company now owns over 2,600 stores located in 31 states. It is the largest traditional grocery store chain in the country.

What to Expect When Interviewing

Two-thirds of the candidates apply online, 20 percent in person, and the higher positions are often secured through recruiters. Most rate the interview process as easy and give the impression that because turnover is great at this company, being hired is not a challenge. Only half of the employee candidates had a positive interview experience. The interview processes vary and can include a brief telephone discussion, a low-key in person visit, or an interviewing panel several hours long. There is some uniformity in the questions asked: "What are your long term goals," "Tell me about a time when you handled a difficult customer," but the remaining structure seems entirely dependent upon the specific store's management. Mouth swab drug tests are common at the time of the interview, and background checks may be required for some of the more advanced managerial or pharmacy positions.
