Supervalu was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota by Hugh Harrison in 1870 as B.S. Bull and Company. As a dry goods wholesaler, the company went on to become the Winston Newell Company, a charter member of IGA, or the Independent Grocery Alliance, in 1928. In 1942, Winston and Newell parted ways from IGA and went on to form Supervalu in 1952. In the following decades, the company acquired companies such as Albertsons, Hornbacher?s, Cub Foods, Scott?s Food & Pharmacy, Shop ?n Save and Save-A-Lot.
In 2012, Supervalu was #75 on the Fortune 500 list, and is the third largest food retailer in the US behind Kroger and Safeway.
What to Expect When Interviewing

Cashier
Cashiers must keep the customer at the center of all that they do. Cashiers must run fast and efficient cashier operations with friendly customer service. Cashiers also need to be knowledgeable about the store, its merchandise and services offered.
Overnight Replenishment Associate
Job responsibilities require that Associates replenish and relocate merchandise both on and off of the sales floor. Organize and maintain areas of the stockroom according to Kmart policy, and process inbound and outbound freight. Due to the late hours, applicants will need to consistently be available for overtime shifts for this position.
