Sweetbay Supermarket is a subsidiary of Food Lion, and is a chain that exists solely in the state of Florida. In 1922, Salvatore Greco and his wife opened a storefront in their home in Tampa and later expanded to a proper store called Big Barn in 1947. It later changed its name to Kash n' Karry and was eventually bought out by Food Lion. In 2007, the last of the original Kash n' Karry stores were converted to Sweetbay Supermarkets. Sweetbay was modeled after another Food Lion subsidiary, Hannaford, and Sweetbay carried Hannaford brand generics as the store brand until 2011.
