The Buckle is a retail chain of stores that sells clothing, accessories and footwear for men and women. Founded in 1948 by David Hirschfeld, the original store was called Mills Clothing, and it sold men's clothing exclusively. After a second store was purchased in 1967, the company began to focus on denim and casual clothing, operating under the name Brass Buckle. In 1977, women's apparel was introduced, and in 1991, the name was changed to The Buckle. Today, The Buckle has over 400 stores nationwide.
The majority of applicants that interview for a position at The Buckle report a positive interview experience. Potential employees can expect a fairly straightforward interview process consisting of a face-to-face or group interview with a store manager in which standard interview questions are posed. An example might include, "What was something you learned about yourself at your previous job?" Management positions may be required to take a personality test, be asked to submit to a drug test and participate in a group interview. Potential employees can apply online or in person, and phone interviews are sometimes conducted.
