Application for jobs can be done through an online process although the short-listing takes time since the firm is run by the government. After the application, one is required to complete an online assessment form which is fairly easy. The assessment is meant to determine the competence of the applicant as the questions are usually personality based. The next step involves signing up for a proctored exam which has to be completed within a stated time frame. After the completion of the exam, the applicant is invited for a face to face interview and is also required to carry the results of urinalysis and also complete a back-ground check. USPS carries out a mass-interview so applicants are given a specific date and time. On the day of the actual interview, one fills out some paper work and waits for the actual interview with the panel. The verdict depends one's interaction with the interviewer.
