Wawa traces its roots back to 1890 when Richard Wood imported a herd of Guernsey cows to his 1000-acre farm in Wawa, Pennsylvania. The dairy business flourished through the 1920s, thanks in no small part to the sanitary practices, pasteurization and home delivery services that were mainstays of the company. When the popularity of home milk delivery began to wane in the mid-60s, the company opened its first retail outlet under the name Wawa Food Markets. Today, Wawa is the biggest chain of convenience stores in Philadelphia, also operating locations in Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia.
The majority of applicants that interview for a position with Wawa report a positive interview experience. A standard interview question might include, _Name a time when you have encountered a challenge._ Potential employees can apply online or in person, and phone interviews are sometimes conducted prior to the face-to-face interview. Some applicants who are offered positions can expect to submit to a background check.
